Give It to God and Rest | Finding Peace Through Faith

In today’s world, it can feel like there’s always something to worry about. Whether it’s family, work, finances, or our future, our minds can easily become burdened with the weight of daily concerns. It’s no wonder so many people struggle to find peace and rest.

But God, in His infinite love and wisdom, has given us a way to find peace, even when life feels overwhelming. Through His Word, we learn that peace and rest come not from trying to handle everything on our own but from surrendering our cares and trusting Him to take control.

Here’s what the Bible says about finding true peace: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7). This verse gives us a profound promise: that we can release our worries and burdens because God truly cares about each one of us.

#1. Recognize That God Wants to Carry Your Burdens

Sometimes, we may feel that our concerns are too small or too unimportant for God to worry about. But God is not like us. He cares about the details of our lives because He loves us intimately. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to “cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” This isn’t just a polite invitation—it’s a powerful assurance that we can place the heaviest burdens of our hearts into His hands and trust that He will hold us steady.

When we think of our heavenly Father as the Creator of the universe, it might feel hard to believe that He has time for our daily concerns. But God is both mighty and gentle. He calls Himself a shepherd, lovingly watching over each one of His sheep. Jesus even says in Matthew 10:30 that “the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” He knows everything about us, and that means no burden is too small or too heavy for Him to care about.

#2. Surrender Your Worries Through Prayer

One of the simplest yet most profound ways we can give our burdens to God is through prayer. Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” This scripture gives us a powerful reminder that instead of being anxious, we can take our worries to God in prayer and receive His peace in return.

When we pour out our hearts to God, we’re not just going through a ritual; we’re actively giving Him the things that weigh us down. And as we pray, we can thank Him in faith, knowing that He is already at work. Prayer isn’t about trying to get God to move our way; it’s about inviting Him to work in His perfect way. When we surrender our worries in prayer, God exchanges our anxiety for His peace—a peace that goes beyond what the world can offer and reaches right into our hearts.

#3. Trust God to Take Care of What You Cannot Control

When we hold onto our burdens, trying to control every outcome, it often leads to anxiety, frustration, and weariness. God’s Word reminds us, though, that we’re not meant to carry every responsibility ourselves. Jesus gently invites us, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

When we try to handle everything on our own, we’re actually carrying burdens that belong to God. God, in His kindness, offers us a lighter load—one that comes with His grace, wisdom, and strength. By releasing our need for control and giving our worries to Him, we are freeing ourselves to walk in faith, letting God take care of what we cannot control.

#4. Rest in God’s Promises

One of the most beautiful aspects of giving our burdens to God is knowing that He has given us countless promises in His Word. When we believe His promises, our hearts are strengthened, and we can rest in His faithfulness. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3). Instead of focusing on what’s going wrong, we can set our minds on the promises of God, trusting that He will keep us in peace as we fix our thoughts on Him.

The Bible is filled with promises of God’s goodness, provision, and care. When we’re tempted to worry, let’s remember those promises. Remember that God “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). Whatever circumstances we face, God is always able to work things together for good, just as Romans 8:28 assures us.

#5. Embrace the Peace That Comes From Faith

Finally, giving our worries to God allows us to rest in the peace that only comes through faith. We don’t have to wait until every problem is solved or every question answered to experience God’s peace. The peace that Christ offers is available to us now, in the midst of our circumstances. Jesus told His disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

True peace isn’t just the absence of trouble; it’s the presence of God in our lives. When we place our trust in Him, His peace becomes our foundation, giving us the strength to face whatever lies ahead with a calm and joyful heart. This peace allows us to rest, knowing that the One who holds the universe holds us too.

Final Thoughts

Ladies, remember that you don’t have to carry your burdens alone. God sees, God cares, and God is always ready to take on the weight that you were never meant to bear. When we give our worries and fears to Him, we can rest in the knowledge that He is faithful and that His love for us never fails. Instead of holding onto our cares, let’s make it a daily habit to release them to our loving Father and find the peace He so freely offers.

So today, whatever you’re facing, know that God is inviting you to let go and rest. Give it to Him. Trust Him. And rest in the peace that only He can provide.
